8th post-London and pre-notts games in the Bath town.

As most of you all already knew, I went down(or right?) to London last weekend for a break from the peaceful Bath. As i said you just can't stay in Bath for 2 or 3 consecutive weekends without going anywhere(unless you have loads of work), but I have been in Bath for 8 weeks, and last week was the first time I go out of Bath to see the WORLD. Didn't do really much in London but just want to say thank you to some really good friends:

Thank you :

Shu Ching(London people know her as Selphie) for teman-ing me to shop on Saturday and Sunday as well as dinner before i leave AND helping me to choose jacket with poh shen. Got selphie go London sure no boring liao la. =P

Val for including me in her plans for night event at her lovely LSE Uni and introducing me to some real nice people and joining up for dinner the next day. Had real fun that night. Well considering 1 whole month no night fun adi. =D

Kel Jin for inviting me to play badminton with his mates at LSE badminton court. Had another good time too, always knew i could play badminton..haha! But not as geng as him la considering i stop quite long adi. Oh and joining us for dinner as pictured above. We are good friends now! Look forward to meeting you again.

Nimalan for being black black not white as usual and booking the Four Seasons Restaurant and with poh shen teman me to Imperial accommodation and showing me the way home at 3.30am in the morning. You know la London so many bus, if no London people to guide sure sesat.

Poh Shen for also accompanying me shopping and help me to choose a jacket for 45mins lol. Oh and showing me your imperial accommodation too, so high tech and so modern! And playing ping pong 3am with SORHEM NIM who stepped the ping pong ball half way into the game, and it was the last ball. =.=

Well overall it was a nice weekend off in London. Thankx again! Oh and we had really nice food at 4seasons in Bayswater as pictured above. The duck was quite good too. Well its like 60ringgit per person so well thats what you'd expect. See you people in London in 2 weeks time! And thats also when I'm going HOME. Oh and 1 more thing is, while walking back from the train station to my place, I just can't help but appreciate the peaceful and no-busy atmosphere in Bath la, fresh air and no stress. Walk in London everyday ah, can KO la. So many people and bang here and there. See the primark. The people there ah, like never buy things before. lol. For me once a while I go London shopping or see see can adi la, studying in places like Bath and outskirt places still the best la. And come to see Bath University's Sports Training Village la, compared to other Uni, like your house gym compared to True Fitness. Seriously, no exxageration here.

Oh and its Nottingham Games tomorrow(Saturday) and Bath people are leaving freakin 2.30am in the morning. which means 5 hours more. The journey takes 5 hours by bus i think. Crazy right 2.30am in the morning. So London people, 5am quite late adi, don't complain! Looking forward to meet more Malaysians there and play some competitive sports too! For those who do not have a clue bout Nott's Games, its an annual event where the Malaysian Society of Nottingham Uni organises a "Hari Sukan" day for lots of Malaysian from different Uni's in UK to gather round and compete. These includes Football, basketball, netball, badminton, tennis and the list goes on...

Well I snapped some pics of outside my accommodation while doing laundry. Here it is:

Its called John Wood Court. I'm at ground floor. The 5th picture(just above) is the main door to enter the block. then theres another door to enter my unit, then a small corridor, then on the right is my room and on the left is the kitchen, where the window can be seen on the picture. My room window is opposite this building, so you can see it from here. As you can see there are different blocks, and I'm staying KE, there are KA KB KC KD KE KF. And the fourth picture is the laundry room, can meet a lot girls there. LOL.

I wanted to take my room but didn't manage to, next time k. its 11.45pm now. I just came back from badminton. Going to Nott's games at 2.30am. ZZZZ. Must sleep in bus. Weather in Bath is not cold now, like 11 degrees today. But its been raining the past few days almost a week now. Its very chilling although its only 10 degrees.

Studies is fine. Spent 3 hours in the library alone today doing circuit theory and Maths Integration. Integration is getting farking hard. Spent like 1 hour only do 3 questions. Some new stuff and unusual stuff we haven't learned from A-Levels. Its very disturbing and annoying if you cant solve maths question. And then below the Integration work sheet have like 4 or 5 LONG questions. Not those short questions where they ask you to integrate this or that. Then next friday got circuit theory test summore. Tough times.

One more thing. That day in tutorial, after England got knock out off Euro 2008, I suddenly like sang England National Anthem, I mean like doing the HUMMING la, not the lyrics, then my English friend said:" Shut up Jiat, do your work." Then I ask him:" Do you know what I'm singing?" He said NO. Then i asked:" Do you know how to sing your National Anthem?"

Well I was extremely surprise to hear:"You mean God Save The Queen? No." Then I was like WTF OMFG. How come you all don't know? Even I know..! By the way England's National Anthem is called God Save The Queen. Then I shout across the table:" OI Mike! Do you know how to sing your England National Anthem?"

Mike: "You Mean God Save the Queen? Like NO. I know the hymns though."

Jiat:" Wtf? Seriously? You gotta be Joking! But how come those football fans know how?"

Mike:" Well I think they are simply HUMMING when the national anthem is played through the stereo in the stadium. HAHA!"

Then I told the guy next to me that we sing our national anthem every monday during assembly in Malaysia. " Oh you all do? NO SHIT."

See. When we all start opening our mouth to critisise our education policy..Take a moment and think..Just when you thought singing Negaraku was a waste of time..Some people don't even know how to sing their Negaraku. And there we are standing up straight with our hands at the side singing " Negaraku, tanah tumpahnya darahku..." every Monday during our school days, showing our Love and respect to our very own Country. Classic. UK students, try ask your kuai lou british friend see they know how to sing all all not, you may be surprise. =)

Another thing. When I ask people wether they going Notts games, they say NO. WHats the reason? "Oh my friends all not going lah." KNN MCB. Go there not just to meet old friends right, go there to MAKE NEW FRIENDS also la. And go there to play sports la, some competitive sports! A lot Malaysians come UK all forgot roots adi la, want to make friends with Kuai Lou and Ang Moh nia, own people all forgot adi. ZZzzz. Knn.

Ok. I need to take a bath and then take a nap, if I can(my housemates on music farking loud, the speakers bigger than your TV) then pack stuff then go to NOTTS. Wish me luck for football or futsal. Time for some Malaysians gathering! Take care people!

p.s. May I just emphasise again, 16 DAYS TO BALIK RUMAH. WOOHOO.

7th and 25 days and counting to go HOME!

(WARNING. LONG POST WITHOUT ANY ILLUSTRATION OR WHAT SO EVER. JUST WORDS.)

20/11/2007.

When i wrote the date for Physics notes today, really can't believe that its been 2 months since I arrived in the Bath place. Which only means 2 things.

That time FLIES. and.

25 days till my flight back HOME. HOMEEEE. Nasi Lemak I'm coming!

Its been a long week for me here. Had 2 reports to do and a presentation last week. Then Maths test yesterday and German assessment today. Oh and did i mentioned that I'm taking German now as an extra unit? Extra 3 credit. Doesn't count in the overall degree though, but its gonna be there and its useful, for whatever plans me and my dad has. =)

Well its not wrong to say that I'm getting bored already here. Academically and non-academically. I mean, of coures you could argue that if I'm bored i could take my time to study. I still does it sometimes, but hey, not every time also i must take book out and read right? I need something else. Like going out to meet friends and hang around. Old friends. I like all my new friends here, but its just a different feeling altogether. Its been 2 months here and most people had gone around UK to visit friends in London, Cambridge, Nottingham, Cardiff etc. But I have not been AWAY from BATH for 2 months. I'm not criticising Bath, its the best place in the world to study and get your certificate. But ask any student who stays here and they can tell you that they will K.O here if singgah here for more than a week if you take away Bath University.

Well talk about entertainment in Bath. Other than football league and basketball occasionally and watching Arsenal games with those really cool Arsenal fans, AND, of coures clubs/pubs, there is nothing much to do here really. Well i suppose i could join all those clubs and go social here and there or go to those night activities on campus. There is a Bath Theatre though, its quite big and I always see lots of people coming out every night after a show. Lots of posters around and looks interesting too. Not sure if its stage play or orchestra. Must try 1 day. I know its very fun but its just not my kind of activities this time around.

If you are surprised. For your info. Jiat have not been to a CLUB for a MONTH liao. YES. 30 DAYS. Ya, I don't know whats going on too. I mean I've lots of invitation but i just seem to find lots of reasons not to go. Like homework, next day got class, tired. Hmmph. Maybe its the money factor. I went around asking my friends in London and other places how much they spent a week. Some say 50, some 30, some 20, and, a good friend in London, said he spent only 10-15pounds a week. OMFG WTF? In London spent so little? Yau mou? Well i spent on average 50 a week. Now without those clubs maybe 40+. But i suppose its inevitable, i need the money for food and stuff. I'm trying to cut down the amount of $$ i spent on food outside, as in keluar makan. If I'm real lazy would go out and buy. But mind you, I wouldn't be afraid to spent for food in Sainsburys or just makan-makan outside.

Is 50pounds a week a lot? If you are leaving in the UK, how much do you spent a week? I mean I don't go shopping to buy clothes and shoes and stuff. The only thing I really shop was some sports stuff like gloves and socks and shin guard and my beg from JJB. Other than that nothing really expensive liao. Means I'm actually not spending that much la right? Why do I just get the feeling that I'm using that much $$. Hmm..

Its been raining here for a few days now, and according to forecast its gonna rain everyday till friday. Temperature is up and down. Last week -1 to bout 6, this week 3 to 8 degrees. Although I claim then I'm British-nised already and those cock and bull stories, I still have to admit that its quite cold especially when its raining. But I still wear a shirt and a jacket and shorts when its 7 or 8 degrees in the afternoon while walking around town. I just like it when those people(especially ANG MOH) who give me the looks like:" What on earth is this Asian boy thinking wearing shorts in this weather? Chi Xin." LOL.

Thats how adventurous i get.

Oh and special mention to those who are taking STPM(mainly Peng Yew Li Teng and Yih Ren and Shern Shern and whoever I dint mention) :

Good Luck and All the best! You done it before and no doubt you can do it again!

Sorry for the late wishes coz I long time no blog and just realised! But better late than never!

Oh and speaking of 2 months not getting out of Bath. Theres a 60% chance I might go down to London this weekend to chill and meet some mates. Let me just check if I have any obligations or circumstances that might halt my visit to Lundun. I just thought of it yesterday and asked mom, she said NO PROBLEM. Wee. Well, so you London people if you read this then please be ready for Jiat. I want the best food and anyone want to follow me for EMIRATES STADIUM TOUR on SATURDAY? 5 pounds only i think? Can get to see their changing room(including those gym place, spa, game room, press conference room etccccc) and directors box and bench and the museum as well! So any London people up for it? As if I have lots of London people reading my Bath-ing blog. Just a matter of interest. Hehe.

Ok. 2.30am now. ZZZzzz. I'm just avoiding the question of my Bath pictures. Sorry I really havent got any decent pictures to post yet. I will take it when I have time.

p.s. sunsets at 4pm here! And just for your info, Nottingham, Loughborough, Birmingham, Warwick etc snowed yesterday. Melanie(a postgraduate) said that it only snowed in January for the last 3 years. Climate change is really ketara now a days. Time for some global warming issues.

Friday 2 November 2007

6th and Non-toxic week in the Bath place.

So, its been a month or 5 weeks to be more precise since I've left Malaysian-Land to come to the Bath-place to further studies. I'd like to tell you that I'm not missing home at all but NO, I think I'm homesick. YES.

Well as most of you already know, Bath is not a very big town, and don't provide you much entertainment, except night lah, you know what i mean. Yeah I'm saying like compared to busier places like Bristol and London or Manchester or Leeds, where the city is bigger and more developed. And you gets lots of shopping and plays and cinema and EMIRATES STADIUM, in the case of London. And you have lots of friends there too. I'm talking bout Good friends you already knew like years ago, of coures I have new friends here but its just different lah you know? Can chill chill all and talk all the bullshyt and lanku duo duo. And can shopping and watch football. Ok lets not just focus on the advantage of studying in London. I mean Bath is a really nice place to study and good for academic life. Bath University is a campus base Uni, not like all the uni's in London where is scattered around and just not-so-campus-life style. Its just different.

After class you can just go strolling around town alone.(Yes i know sounds sad but hey, its nice you know, can explore explore your town all then next time your friends come can bring them around). To seek peace or calmness or whatever is it to make you feel better after a whole day of tiresome work and lectures. The people and cars and time here are so slow moving, so human-friendly and lets you take a break out of the rat race. While walking you just meet lots of nice people with a smiling mask on their face, children cycling around, different varieties of shops and makan stores. Different type of cars. Old ancient building like the famous Bath Cathedral. Gives you Harry-Potter-eish feels. Then you can just walk by the river and waterfalls to chill and take pictures. And let the cold wind blow pass you. Not hot at all.

Speaking bout cold and low temperature. I think I westernised liao. Or rather kuai-lou-nise. I can just wear shorts and T-shirt outside there without feeling super cold. After football or basketball that is. But many people must wear all the jackets and sweaters. I simply walk out with my beg all and towel also no problem. Cool. Not sure why but maybe my body gives out lots of heat to protect me from the chills.

Well my sporting activities here is basically football, basketball and swimming in 1 week. I play football on Wednesday and Saturday Afternoon. Basketball on Sunday afternoon and swimming on the rest of other days when i feel like too. Judging by my fixed schedule for sports, seems like i settled in pretty well isn't it? Yah but its just so routine over here. I don't want to start complaining coz you might say whose life is not routine, but I feel it just lacks something.

I think i miss my family and friends. A lot. Ok not think, but i really miss them. And i miss MALAYSIA. SS19/SS15/Rio. Lol. Although i still go supper sometimes when my friends just knocked my window, but supper here is what, fries or kebabs or burgers? YES I'm talking bout Mamak here. The longer i stay in British land the more i feel like opening Mamak store in London. Will earn millions innit? Ok don't care bout the ingredients and rental cost and stuff, assuming I got all those settled and its successful. imagine. Whose up for it? Show me some hands!(or comments)

I hate the feeling of losing contact with people back there in KL. I mean. I don't go to my msn contact list to ask everyone how are they right? I don't want to just focus on what i'm doing here, I want to be back there and go out with you all! Theres just too many people i wanna go out with and like hang around..and just to keep up to date! I'm totally in dark now about how are some of my closest friends are doing. I'm sorry I dont do things like call back or sms everytime to ask how are you and stuff. Thank God for my flight on 16th December.

Lol. I know, I've been here for over a month and still no pictures of Bath place or Bath Uni or my Bath-room. Like what kind of blog is this right. I promise pictures will come soon. Sunday is studying day. And i try to go around snapping pictures of the Bath town and the Uni if i go library tomorrow la k. Then my room let me chap a bit before i snap pics. Mind you my room is 1 of the most tidy room in my house. *Proud* You shall see it soon. I will even take pic of the Arsenal pub i always go to watch Arsenal games and places around my area where i always go to la k. Then you can judge whether I'm having fun here or not. Of coures I haven't explore the whole Bath. Quite impossible now. But my house mate promised me to take me around bath with his cool Bike, you know those bike like Racing kind of Bike. Very yeng wan. They must wear special jacket and gloves everytime they ride it. Yah those kind. Then i can snap some pics too. Oh and you even get a big MAC store here and even HOT-AIR BALLOON rides at the park in Bath. Muahaha. Havent tried, see only. Sounds cool.

Well. Arsenal and Man U drew 2-2 today. Arsenal came back from 1-0 and 2-1 to snatch the equaliser on 91st min. And they are top of the table level on points with the Devils but with ONE GAME IN HAND. Classic. If we are still top by Christmas, then the EPL crown will come. I hope. After football at 3pm we went to play football at 4pm till 6pm in Uni with our usual teams. Then went to Nandos for dinner at 9.30pm. THere was fun fare and fireworks in Uni today. But i was too tired to go. Not like i havent seen fireworks before.(remember International Fireworks Competition in Putrajaya?)

So thats about it. I'm very tired now. I don't want to rant bout my studies and work. Thats why Sunday is study day. Which means Sunday is the time to finish all my work and catching up with everything I have left out. But all is fine. Take care people.

*p.s. prince KO status adi. No prince. Now is time to be some nerd. Maybe next week.
